A two-time winner of the Arthur Ellis Award for excellence in crime fiction, Montreal native Howard Shrier is the author of four novels in the acclaimed Jonah Geller series; The American Zone, a 2025 work of historical fiction about the early days of construction on the Panama Canal; the standalone thriller Lostport; and When It Was Cold, a collection of crime stories. Now based in Toronto, he is working on a new novel, teaches creative writing and mentors aspiring authors.
